Question: In Walk Kansas, what activity besides walking is considered a "Mile Walked"?
Answer: Activity such as bicycling, racquetball, running, swimming, rollerblading, aerobic exercise machines, aerobic exercises like dance, step, aerobics, yoga, pilates, etc. Weight training, team sports such as basketball, soccer, volleyball.
Activity needs to be sustained for at least 15 minutes so that the heart beat and breathing are accelerated and your body is getting a work out. 15 minutes of this kinds of activity is considered the same as 1 mile of walking.

Question: Can I order sewing patterns through the Extension Office?
Answer: Yes you can. They cost $1.25 each and we change our selection periodically so there is a variety. We must have a minimum order of 5 patterns to order and we do receive them quite quickly.

Question: When is the Adult Scholarship Application Due? Where do I get an application?
Answer: Adult Scholarships are for individuals 21 or older who are attending college.
Applications are due May 1 for the Summer/Fall semesters. December 1 is the deadline for the Spring semester.
You can call the Extension Office and request an application or come by and pick one up. An application is also available on our Website.

Answer: The dates for 2009 Fair, July 17-25

Question: When is there someone in the Fair Office? Who works in that office now?
Answer: Shawn Plunkett is the Secretary for the Hamilton County Fair Board. The office is open 1-5 p.m. Monday - Friday. Please call her at 384-5433 to rent buildings on the Fair Grounds.

Question: What date is the Christmas Fair this year?
Answer: The 23rd Annual Hamilton County Christmas Fair is set for November 14, 2009 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the High School Commons Area. Entry to the Commons Area is on the West side of the building on the North end of the Block.
The application to have a booth at this years Christmas Fair is now available online. Under the heading "Newsletters" you will find the application in PDF format. You can print the form off, fill it out and mail it in with your fee.
